Marianne Paiva, PhD, is a lecturer at California State University, Chico. She is the author of Breathe: Essays from a Recovering Paramedic, Applying Sociology in Everyday Life, the upcoming textbook Stress Management for Wellness, is a contributor to the collaborative blog Ethnography.comand has authored academic articles on various topics. 

 

Dr. Paiva conducts research involving rural communities, environmental justice, access to basic needs, and ethnic and race relations. Her current research revolves around food insecurity among college students, and environmental justice issues of food access in rural communities.
